Wedgefield Plantation, nestled beneath majestic three-hundred-year old oaks, has its roots deep in the history of the Georgetown community. This hidden gem sits off the Black River on beautiful land that is now a golf course, which was once a part of the rice cultivation that made Georgetown County the number one producer of rice in the country.  The property's rich history began in the mid-1700s and later sold to Samuel Wragg, a planter and political figure. Wragg erected the Manor House to entertain business and political comrades of the day. The plantation has been in existence since before 1762 and has passed through the hands of many owners over the years. During the Revolutionary War, Wedgefield was held by the British and served as a hospital.

Fast-forward to 1935 when Robert Goelet purchased Wedgefield Plantation and erected the present-day Georgian Regency Manor House.  A showcase of its day, the Manor House continues to exude a beauty and splendor that is veiled beneath a breathtaking landscape.

Step inside the Manor House, and experience architectural design reminiscent of the day with the original drawing room to the right and gun room to the left. From the foyer, proceed down the steps into the spacious ballroom where we can make your dreams a reality. Whether you are planning for a small, intimate affair, or you are planning a sizeable event, we offer options that appeal to a variety of needs, wants, and interests.
